Get to Know Stephanie
Stephanie gets what it takes to launch and grow a successful law firm. She knows what lawyers are going through because she has been there, suffered through it, and come out the other side! Now, she is using those skills she learned the hard way to teach attorneys how to create and build successful practices that work for them—allowing owners to fulfill their dreams, enjoy their work, and be more profitable.
Stephanie graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law where she served as the Symposium Editor of the Law Review. After practicing with Powell Goldstein (now Bryan Cave), Stephanie launched a trial boutique. As the managing partner at Bloom Sugarman Everett, Stephanie created, implemented, and managed all aspects of firm operations—from firm finances to attorney training and mentoring. Under her leadership, the firm grew to a team of 20 in just seven years. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyer and Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine as well as one of Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite.
Her passion for teaching and creating successful law businesses led her to Lawyers for Equal Justice–Georgia’s first lawyer incubator program that teaches newer lawyers how to start and build a socially conscious law firm. As its founding Executive Director, Stephanie develops and coordinates training and professional development programming for the lawyer participants. In the spring of 2016, Stephanie served as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law teaching “The Economics of a Law Firm,” a class she created. She routinely teaches classes and speaks to lawyers on topics such as, “Creating a Vision for Your Law Firm,” “How Systems Will Change Your Life,” “Stop Being Busy, Start Being Productive,” and “Keeping Clients Happy.”
Stephanie is also committed to providing leadership training for women. Specifically, she has coached and provided leadership training to collegiate women in the U.S. and in Haiti. Today, Stephanie lives in Decatur, Georgia, with her husband and five year old daughter. Her interests include cooking and traveling—two interests that go particularly well together. Stephanie has already taken two separate week-long cooking classes in Italy. She also enjoys great wine and is learning more about craft beer. Stephanie loves a great game of Texas Hold’Em and recently took down the competition at a charity tournament.
