Reorganizing: How CSR Redefined & Staffed Positions In A Nonprofit Allowing It To Thrive

Recruitment Case Study

CSR redesigned and restaffed a nonprofit's structure. A complete overhaul, from A --> Z

"CSR's team is very well-organized, thorough and very pleasant to work with."

The Situation

  • The organization was understaffed due to significant departures, and operations were severely scaled down.

  • The Operations Director was mired in mundane work, such as working the register, to fill the gaps.

  • Roles and responsibilities were unclear and unintuitive, with too much overlap.

  • Many positions interfaced with each other in an inefficient way.

  • The job descriptions as they existed got in the way of the best and highest use of employee’s skills.

Ongoing Strategies

  • Creation of an interim org chart to guide the restaffing and a longer-term, permanent org chart

  • Creation of job descriptions for each position

  • Creation of compensation structure within budget constraints

  • Introduction of a revamped training and onboarding program

  • Recruitment of 7 new hires over a period of 3 months
